The most typical . . . Just typical thing happened today. The sword class I go to changed times from 5:30-7:30 to 3:00-5:00 (PM of course) and for the whole morning and a bit of the afternoon, I remembered that it was at the time but somehow from 2:30 and on, I thought it was from 5:30-7:30. I didn’t realize my error until 4:45. Dang! I wrote the new time on the calendar a week ago but I rarely look at the calendar so it didn’t help.
Mark came over to practice for the spectacular gig at the GOF (it stands for the Good Old Fasioned but the full name of the festival is The Good Old Fasioned Bluegrass Festival so it should be called TGOFBF). Afterwards he asked us if we wanted to play a gig at the owner-of-an-ice-cream-shop’s (I can’t think of a better way to put it) party. Oh yeah! a nice, laid back gig with free ice cream (and hopefully money)!
Art came over and beta tested the Playing by Ear video. He was a good tester, he gave a lot of good suggestions for keeping the viewer interested and “with it”. He’s a marketing person at Microsoft (I think) so he’s good at that stuff.
We whipped up some polish sausages and put them on the B’ah’bee. I realized that a lot of things taste better than they sound. For example, do you really want to know what goes into that slippery stick of braughtworst? Of course not. You’d rather not hear about the different parts of pig, rat and other animals that are used in your holiday hotdog. Probably when traveling, it’s probably good not to completely learn the language so you can be blissfully ignorant when they explain the contents of your cuisine.
We went back to the camp. There was a scoutmaster at the archery range so I went there and shot a few dozen rounds. Boy, I haven’t done archery in years! I was a bit shakey for the first round or two but then I was X’n it (if you know what I mean, bullseye) after that.
We went to the Boulder Creek Boy Scout Folk music camp thingy. We didn’t go for the Folk though, we went for the Bluegrass! The staff wanted us to wear shoes. This is a outdoor boy scout camp and we need shoes!? That sure is “roughing it.” We gave a workshop and then jammed with Chase, Paul and the folks. There is a real nice trail along the creek. Very nice. All the ferns, redwoods and rocks all around. The water flowing through the rocks was soothing.
Boy! That was a close one! I was pruning something and I used the weeding knife to smooth a stump of a branch on the tree and when I unconsciously put it back in it’s sheath, I missed it and it dropped a few inches from my foot. Whew!
