I know what you mean Buddy, wearing the uniform and the pads after an hour and a half of sparing, the uniform weighs tons and drenched in sweat. You should try sparing against college age kids 20+ years younger than you and black belts to boot. what a work out.

Somehow this might not be a sientific (spelled something like that) comment but I'm not sure fat gets sweated out. I know sweating will excrete water but I think it's good to have water in the body (not a large amount of course 'cause that's not good for the body).

If we sweated fat, then we would be fried up like a pork chop while working out in the sun.

Also, if we sweated out the water but left the fat (by not burning calories 'cause of the sweatpants), then we'd be very lumpy ('cause the water would even it out, I think)

I often work out naked-though not in the dojo, the teacher frowns on that...just started sparring and let me tell you, lose about ten pounds of sweat each round-geared up like an astronaut-90 degrees outside and not much cooler in...
somebody made a comment once about isnt it ironic how sweat pants were originally created for working out, and now mostly fat people wear them...

yeah, it is weird that people wear sweats while working out. Now I know people who will work out hard not in sweats and THEN put on sweats to keep the heat in and maintain the sweating in an attempt to loose weight/fat.

Big K, you rule! I too have always thought the idea of sweatclothes was kinda odd. if you exercise hard, you WANT to sweat to get the full experience of exercising hard. but sweatclothes make you sweat BEFORE you earn the privilege of sweating BECAUSE you've been exercising hard. it DOES seem like cheating. i don't mind sweating or exercising and i DON'T want to be roasting in a thick layer of fabric. where's the fun in that?!?!
