Since we’re having a little birthday party colaboration (a lot of birthdays combined to save money) and halloween is coming up, we decided to make it into a costume party. When the idea of a costume party came up, I didn’t think much about it but then it hit me! I’ll be George Shuffler (The creator of Cross-Picking and the guitar picker for The Stanely Brothers)! Billy ‘n everybody say I look like him and I play exactly like him (even though I didn’t hear much of him) and I wear wrap-around sun glasses like he does. Well, I have a suit ‘n everything so I wouldn’t need to spend much money on a costume! I just needed a tie and extremely shiny shoes. We went to the thrift store ’cause Luke needed special clothes for his bum outfit.
I actually found some great shiny shoes that actually fit and were only $1.50. I looked at the ties but all of them were too decorative. The picture I have of George Shuffler shows him wearing a plain, no frills Xtra thin red tie and I needed to have the same tie. Since the chance of finding a plain tie was laugh, I decided to make one at home. Luke found some great clothes for his bum outfit. He found a knit orange/yellow beanie hat, teal pants and a dirty shirt with holes in it! Perfect! When we were checking out, the cashier (who we kinda know. She’s cashiered on us before) showed us the hole in the shirt and and was suprised that we wanted it! I knew she was thinking “they are losing it!”
The tie was very easy to make. The actual tying was the tricky bit. I went online to tie-a-tie.net and they had very easy diagrams to follow, I just kept getting lost. I either and it coming out the wrong hole or a misplaced loop. I mean it still worked, it just didn’t look too . . . nice.
Luke’s costume is gonna be great! He’s gonna rub beer and dirt on his clothes to smell like bum and he’s gonna have a wine bottle in a brown paper bag and the works!
ah man Kyle, I have the perfect tie for your costume. It is a semi-dark red knit tie and about 1 1/4″ wide .. sounds like it would be perfect.
you are too funny, Big K! what a great mind and sense of humor!
