I was walking on the mall today an saw a guy I knew. He’s a nice guy, but he tends to talk a lot. I mean a LOT!
Anyway, we started to talk. . . well, he started to talk and I listened. I said a few things here and there but let him to the labor (of talking). What he was saying was kinda interesting but my mind seemed to wander. It almost seemed a little Seinfeldy.
Anyway, here the actual real thoughts I was thinking while I was pretending to be listening: “Hmm. . . this is interesting. When he is looking at me, to him, it looks like I’m looking directly into his eyes but I’m actually looking into his one eye. Let’s see. When I try looking into both of his eyes, I end up looking at his nose. I’m looking at one of his eyes but when he sees me, it looks like I’m looking at both. I wonder what would happen if I stared at his chin?”
And believe me, my thoughts were more interesting than whatever we were talking about.

Boy! This was the best Karate class ever!. . because I taught it! You see, the usual teacher (John) is in Tahiti (I think) and said if Kai (the next ranking student) isn’t there, we could teach class. Well, Kai wasn’t gonna be there today so Luke and I drew straws to see who would teach. Well, we actually just decided it by the first person to say “dibs!” got to teach. I said dibs first. Not only that, I had the whole class planned out.
Since most people knew John wasn’t gonna be there and they didn’t know we’d be teaching, I knew there might not be anybody (under normal circumstances, if we knew nobody was gonna be there, we wouldn’t have gone but this was my one chance to teach!) but fortunately, there was one person who was a “regular ” who was there. (meaning he comes to regular student, “Regular” is not a ranking in case you thought it might be) It would’ve been pretty cool to have a lot of people to get a lot of volume (mass and decable wise) but beggars can’t be choosers.
Boy I led a mean (in a good way) class! Blood was pumping and is was great! (not to toot my own horn but if I could I surely would) We did basics slow and then fast, after that we did Kata and then wrapped it up. It was fast paced in the beginning and it slowed down through out the class time. I was rather pleased with how I taught it. Well, kind of. . . Luke went and got a drink of water before I said he could. But hey. . . ya know.
I think it’s easier teaching Karate than music ’cause with music, you have to show the students what to do and to encourage them and support them which is a little tricky to get it just right. With Karate, you just say what to do and do it. It’s much easier.

Well, we showed up late for Karate class today. Do you know why? Well, I’ll tell you.
You see there are two routes to get to the UCSC where we do Karate. One way is going through mission street. The other way is going up the hill. The going up the hill route is shorter by a minute (we calculate and checked). Well, we started going the Mission Street route and at the light, Luke said, “oh, we’re going the wrong way.” So he turned right to go the “faster way.” I told him that the time we spent going to the faster way will cancel out the time we’ve saved goign the faster way. He kinda realized that. Unfortunately, the sign said no U-turns so we couldn’t turn to go the faster way! So, we had to go down the hill and we planned to go back up the hill. Unfortunately, no U-turns there also! So, Luke pulled into a lot and pulled out to go up the hill. Of course, there was a sign that said “Keep Left” so we couldn’t go up. We were back where we started, except five minutes later.
When we finally got there, I quickly ran to the class. I didn’t see anybody there so I assumed that it wasn’t happening. I didn’t want to take the chance of waiting to see if somebody would show up ’cause Luke was gonna drive to his girlfriend Phillis’s house and I’d have to wait 1-1/2 hours for him to pick me up.
Good thing his whole driving fiasco happened when class didn’t happen!

I’ve been doing a bit of office reorganizing. I was cleaning the dust off my desk and I thought, “boy! some things could be taken out and changed on my desk!” Well, so that’s when I started fixing things up. First, I took out degrading wafer thin speakers that were attached to my desk. They were really good ’cause they were so thin which I liked, but they vibrated against the wood and just basically crapped out. So, I replaced them with my Altec Lansing speakers/subwoofa’ I got years ago. Back then those speakers weren’t too good (space-wise) because I had a big bulky CRT monitor which took up a lot of room. That with the speakers really took up space. Now, I have a sleek LCD monitor (which is unfortunately a little scratched. I has the opprotunity to cover it in glass or something to protect it but I didn’t do it in time) and I have plenty of room for the speakers.
Also, I thought about moving my keyboard to the slide out drawer under my desk so I could pull it out and type from there rather than have it directly ON my desk. Well, since my keyboard ‘n mouse aren’t wireless, I had to move some wires. So, I tried it out. Thing is, my arms were lower than usual (more relaxed, healthier) but it kinda made me bend my wrists at an upward angle which after a while, was pretty uncomfortable. Typing was starting to hurt. I first thought that I might just have to get used to it but than I thought, it was fine before and it’s a waste of time just to get used to something else.
Also, I took off my two case fans. My case is pretty cool. visually (I have a blue cold-cathode light and a Raidmax Scorpio 868!) and tempaturely (my motherboard has a heatpipe). So I didn’t need two extra fans. Plus, one of them wasn’t even turned on! That freed up some room.
So, it all turned out purty good.
