Ponchos

It was raining pretty hard today and I had to go change the duck water outside (’cause it was a tad filthy). Pa asked me if I wanted to use the new poncho he ordered online at the surplus store called Loadup.com. I thought It’d be pretty neat to try ’cause the ponchos I’ve used before was a kinda thin plasticy sheet. I mean that was perfectly fine but this poncho was a thick rubberized nylon. Actually the official name is “German Military-issue Water Proof Poncho/Shelter. It says shelter ’cause it can be grommeted with another to make a tentish thing. Boy, it was fun! Oh so roomy and comfy. I liked the rubbery feel too. I decided to change the big water trough in the orchard to get a chance to try it out more.

As I emptied the trough, I crouched down and pulled the hood all the way over my head (rather than sticking my head in the hood part). It was so neat hearing the rain beat down on the poncho. I always find it fun to be outside in the rain hearing the droplets yet being dry. It was so roomy that I could crouch and put my head in and it still covered everything. I can’t wait for the rain now! (Not that I could wait for it before anyway)
