As you might be able to see by the picture, I found out that if I rub the wood with pieces of very smooth rock, I can get it much smoother and glassy. (It is actually kinda hard to take a picture of it but when I touch the wood, I can see the reflection of my finger on it). Today, I saw some chalk marks I had left on the shiny wood and, with a damp rag, wiped the chalk off. Unfortunately, the wet rag also took away the shiny luster left on by the stones. fortunately, I could rub it back up to sparkley goodness but I’m not really sure how to waterproof it (besides slapping some paint on but I think it’d be cooler if there’s a more traditional way). So, I wrote my teacher today (who is in Japan at some internation competition I think) and asked him to ask somebody there what to do.
Okay, for some reason, I can’t upload a picture but I’ll do that later.
