I got a drill and a bit to drill a pilot hole into the bottom end of the Dou. It had to be pretty precisely in the middle so that the neck would be straight across (with just enough downward taper). Unfortunately, the wood is hard and I think the drill bit was a little dull ’cause it veered of the mark about 1/2 centemeter. When I drilled down, the wood started to smoke and the bit got hot so I took it out. I kinda did a proccess where I pressed it down and than I brought it out of the hole and then pressed down again.
Afterwards, when I got the pilot hole drilled, I got about drill bit to widen the hole. Now this bit was sharp and it quickly drilled it out. Unfortunately, it was still off no matter what so I got a file and slowely but surely filed the hole upward so that when the rod would go in, the neck would be straight across. After it was level, I got the reamer (which tapers the hole) and reamed the hole out and got the rod in all the way. I got it so it stuck in solidly at the very last millimeter so I didn’t want to touch it anymore in case I might screw it up (like I did with the other end of the Dou).
