As you can tell, I haven’t written a Shamisen blog post in a while. This is due to a couple a’ reasons. The first reason is I’ve been praticing making tapered circles for a tight fit and the second reason is I’ve been busy with other stuff.
You see, I’ve practiced mortise and tenon and carving before I even started the Shamisen so that really helped me and it was smooth sailing carving out the Shamisen. I didn’t get stuck at many places (execpt for making the rod fit on the neck) and that encouraged me to continue. This Peg making step is the first (well, second if you count the rod/neck thing) real stumbling slow down I’ve had with the construction. I’ve had to practice making good circles and tapers. So I’ve made a few tuning pegs which I’m not gonna use but I’ve practiced enough to make a good peg that’ll stay on. I think I can kinda safely say that I’m ready to make the real non-test tuning pegs.
